An idea is not yet a business

Liang Ning organizes the book around value, consensus, and model. The framework asks readers to examine more than whether a product sounds useful: an offering also needs shared recognition of its value and a structure that allows the business to work.

Locate the missing connection

A practical application is to describe a proposed offering in three separate paragraphs. What changes for the customer? Why would the relevant people recognize and accept that change? How can the organization provide it sustainably? A persuasive answer to one question does not automatically answer the other two.

Test the framework against behavior

Use the industry stories as cases to compare, not a promise that a three-part model guarantees success. Look for evidence of actual adoption, payment, repeated use, or commitment. When the story and observed behavior disagree, investigate the mismatch instead of relabeling the idea as a hidden demand that customers simply do not understand.
